“SoulCollage as a Tool in Clinical Practice” The Rockland Chapter of the New York State Society for Clinical Social Work Invites You to an Educational Presentation:
“SoulCollage as a Tool in Clinical Practice” By Cynthia Shaw, MA Sunday, May 15, 2011
-SoulCollage® is a unique and therapeutic expressive arts process which uses the art form of collage to illuminate all facets of one’s self.
-In working with clients, we can use this fun and intuitive process to assist them in bringing to light what may be beyond work.
-Due to solely using images and no words, Soul Collage® cards have a way of bypassing the left brain and can deepen a clients understanding of parts of themselves and then can help them with interpretation, which holds deep personal meaning.
-This “lecture” will be your own personal time to experience SoulCollage®! This will be a fully experiential “workshop”….so come ready to cut and glue. Absolutely no artistic experience necessary, just an open, curious and adventurous mind!
Cynthia Shaw is a professional New York State licensed mental health counselor with 20 years of experience. Her private practice is located in Nyack and she has done much work in the fields of Reproductive Mental Health and women’s issues.
Cynthia is also an artist and has for many years attended workshops and classes on bringing creativity into the therapeutic setting. In 200, she became a trained SoulCollage® facilitator.

Self-injury is also a drug and it is as addictive as any drug of abuse It does to the brain in a second what it takes weeks or a month to do with medication. Self-injury is an attempt to prevent suicide by refocusing through pain and it is a way to deal with overwhelming feelings in an attempt to stay alive.
