Presentation  I:        Playfulness

The role of playfulness in the therapeutic situation will be discussed with the help of illustrative vignettes to demonstrate the uses, advantages, and risks of such an attitude within the clinical dyad.

Presentation  II:       Happiness

This presentation will review Freud’s and other master clinicians' views on happiness.  Four varieties of happiness will be delineated and their usefulness in psychotherapy will be examined..

Afternoon Session:
"The Women: Our Psychoanalytic Mothers"
Louise DeCosta, Ph.D, LCSW, as creative director and narrator, will take you on a journey through history, introducing you to six remarkable women who have contributed to the development and evolution of clinical work.   She offers you a unique, creative, intellectual learning opportunity through a theatrical performance where you will discover how culture, gender, personality and history influenced their contributions to psychodynamic theory and treatment.   The audience will be invited to engage with our psychoanalytic ancestors.
